'Masters Koshien' |
Field of Dreams in Japan |
‘A holy land for high school baseball’ |
Every spring and summer, a nationwide high school baseball tournament is
held at Koshien stadium. All high school baseball players aspire to set
foot on this sacred ball park, but most of them lose during the regional
preliminary tournaments. It can be estimated that around two million players were not able to play at Koshien during their high school days. The ‘Masters Koshien’ game was started by some of those former school-baseball players and each participant has started making an alumni team and tried again to pursue their long lasting dream. |
Since 2004, we have developed four principal activation goals for the Masters Koshien: | ||
(1) | Individual to promote the "sports for life" philosophy, enrich and fulfill one's life or to relive childhood dreams |
|
(2) | Community to energize alumni participation, to strengthen social interactions and intergenerational interactions, and to stimulate a sense of community |
|
(3) | Society to promote a lifelong sports culture, to promote OB/OG-player culture, and to promote senior citizen sports culture |
|
(4) | Education to pass down the baseball legacy and to inspire younger generations |
